Wealthsimple Affiliate Referral Program (the “Promotion”).
This Promotion is sponsored by Wealthsimple Technologies Inc. (together with its affiliates “Wealthsimple”).
Eligibility. To be eligible for this Promotion, the person must:
- be a legal resident of Canada;
- be the age of majority, or older, in their province/territory of residence at the time of participation;
- not have previously registered for or created a Wealthsimple Self-directed Investing, Crypto, Managed Investing, or Chequing account (each a “Promotion Account”);
- meet the requirements for registering a Promotion Account; and
- meet the referral requirements set out below
(the “Client”).
Funding Period. Thirty (30) days from the opening of a new Promotion Account (the “Funding Period”).
Qualifying Action. To participate in the Promotion, the Client must open a Promotion Account by clicking through from the relevant affiliate link containing the unique tracking code (an “Affiliate Link”), then transfer or deposit at least $1 into the Promotion Account within the Funding Period (altogether, the “Qualifying Action”). Transfers or deposits from affiliates of Wealthsimple would not qualify as a Qualifying Action for the purpose of this Promotion. This Promotion does not apply to clients under the Wealthsimple for Business.
Transfer Fee from External Institutions. There may be fees charged by an institution outside of Wealthsimple for the transfer of the Client’s account(s) to Wealthsimple. Wealthsimple will automatically reimburse the transfer-out fee per account from an institution if the Client’s Qualifying Transfer is equal to or greater than $25,000 in a single account transfer. Bonus. A cash bonus of $25 (the “Bonus”) is available for the Client where the cumulative transfer amount less withdrawals during the Funding Period (the “Net Funding Amount”) is at least $1. Maximum one (1) Bonus per Client.
The Bonus is non-transferrable and cannot be applied retroactively. The Bonus remains subject to change, at Wealthsimple’s sole discretion.
This Promotion cannot be combined with the Wealthsimple Referral Bonus Promotion if the capacity to which the Client is participating in the Wealthsimple Referral Bonus Promotion is a referee. For greater clarity, Client may not obtain a base bonus in that promotion as a referee, but can refer other individuals to obtain a base bonus and possibly a boosted bonus as a referrer. Please see the terms of that promotion for details.
Hold Period. Clients who receive a Bonus may not spend or otherwise remove (i) the cumulative balance of the Client’s Wealthsimple account(s) immediately prior to the start date of the Promotion and (ii) the Net Funding Amount from of their Wealthsimple account(s) (“Withdrawal”) for 180 days from the end of the Promotion Period or the Bonus may be deducted from their final withdrawal amount or otherwise recovered by Wealthsimple. Transfers between the Client’s own Wealthsimple account(s), withdrawals from the Home Buyers’ Plan or First Home Savings Account for the purpose for purchasing a home, withdrawals from Life Income Fund or Registered Retirement Income Fund, and/or negative fluctuations in the Net Funding Amount solely due to market conditions will not counted towards the Withdrawal Limit. Withdrawals on any profits, dividends, interests or benefits otherwise derived from the Net Funding Amount, and withdrawals from a Multiple Holder Account by the secondary account holder will be counted towards the Withdrawal Limit.will be counted towards the Withdrawal Limit.
Application of Bonus. Please allow up to sixty (60) business days for the Bonus to be applied to the Client’s Promotion Account upon meeting the Qualifying Action.
In the event the Client has more than one Wealthsimple account at the time the Bonus is applied, it will be applied strictly in the following order of priority:
- Wealthsimple Chequing account
- Wealthsimple Joint Chequing account
- Non-registered or personal Wealthsimple Managed Investing account
- Non-registered or personal Wealthsimple Self-directed Investing account
- Wealthsimple Crypto account
- Wealthsimple Managed Investing TFSA account
- Wealthsimple Self-directed Investing TFSA account
- Wealthsimple Managed Investing RRSP account
- Wealthsimple Self-directed Investing RRSP account
All Clients’ Wealthsimple accounts must be in good standing at the time the Bonus is applied.
If the Bonus is deposited into a Managed Investing account, the Bonus will be automatically invested in a Managed Investing portfolio within 3 business days in accordance with the Client’s assigned risk level. The risk level can be changed by the Client, and confirmed with an advisor as necessary, at any time.
There may be circumstances to which Wealthsimple may not be able to apply the Additional Bonus to the Client’s existing Wealthsimple account(s). In such cases, Clients will be notified and will be required to open one of the other Wealthsimple accounts above for the Additional Bonus to be properly applied. There are no fees associated with the creation of a Wealthsimple Account. A Client can open a Wealthsimple Account by visiting https://www.wealthsimple.com/en-ca and following the instructions on how to create an account.
Tax Implications. If the Bonus is deposited to a RRSP, FHSA or TFSA account, it will be reported by Wealthsimple as a contribution to CRA. Clients are required to review their available contribution room prior to making a contribution to their registered account. Any excess contribution penalties that arise from a contribution are solely the responsibility of the Client. Clients should contact their personal tax advisor if they require tax advice.
There are tax implications to bonuses and rewards of this nature in most instances. Please consult with an accountant or tax professional for additional guidance. Wealthsimple will not be issuing clients a tax slip to report Bonuses paid to a non-registered account. Clients are solely responsible for any required tax reporting.
Combinability. Unless specified in the terms of other promotions, this promotion can be combined with other offers or promotion codes.
If Client had previously registered for a non-combinable promotion and subsequently registers for this Offer, all deposits and transfers eligible for this Offer will count towards this Offer and not the previously registered non-combinable promotion(s).
If, after receiving a commitment letter pursuant to this Offer, the Client subsequently registers for another non-combinable promotion(s), please refer to the terms for those promotion(s) for details.
Currency. All currency shown in these terms and conditions are in Canadian dollars.
No Recommendation. Wealthsimple Self-directed Investing and Crypto does not provide investment advice and do not hereby recommend any security, crypto or transaction. There is no requirement that the Client purchase any security or asset with the Bonus.
Referral Disclosure. By participating in this Promotion, Client understands they are being referred to Wealthsimple and its affiliates including Wealthsimple Inc. (“WSI”), Wealthsimple Payments Inc. (“WPI”) and Wealthsimple Investments Inc. (“WSII”) by the owner of the promotional page that directed the Client to an Affiliate Link (the “Affiliate Sponsor”). The Affiliate Sponsor may receive compensation in the form of a referral marketing fee of up to $1,250 when the Client participates in this Promotion by clicking through the Affiliate Link. WSI is registered as a portfolio manager in each province and territory of Canada. WSII is a registered investment dealer in each province and territory of Canada, and is a member of the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization. WPI is registered with FINTRAC as a money services business in Canada. The Affiliate Sponsor is not registered in any capacity. All activities under this referral arrangement with the Affiliate Sponsor requiring registration will be performed by Wealthsimple. The possibility of a conflict of interest may arise in any paid referral arrangement. In this case, the Affiliate Sponsor is receiving a fee for referring the Client to Wealthsimple and the fee may have impacted their decision to refer the Client. However, neither the Affiliate Sponsor nor Wealthsimple are aware of any actual or potential conflict of interest as a result of the referral.
Release. By participating in the Promotion, Client assumes all risk of injury, illness, disease, death, or any other damage which may arise in connection with their participation in the Promotion. Without limiting the foregoing, client hereby: (a) forever releases and discharges Wealthsimple and its parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, related and associated entities and employees, directors, officers, suppliers, agents, sponsors and administrators of each (collectively, the “Releasees”), from and against any and all claims, actions, costs, liabilities, judgments, damages, obligations, losses, penalties, and expenses of any kind or nature whatsoever (including legal fees) (collectively, the “Claims”) in any way arising directly or indirectly out of any injury, loss, or damage that the Client may suffer as a result of, or in connection with the participation in the Promotion or any promotion-related activity, including the posting of the Bonus in their Wealthsimple account and subsequent use of the Bonus; and (b) indemnifies, defends and holds harmless the Releasees from and against any and all damages, loss and expenses, including legal fees, which may be suffered directly or indirectly by reason of the Client’s own negligence or willful misconduct during or in connection with their participation in the Promotion.
General. Wealthsimple reserves the right to cancel, amend, withdraw or restrict the Promotion and/or these terms and conditions at any time without notice. Wealthsimple is the sole arbiter of these rules and any other issue arising under the Promotion. If Wealthsimple suspects fraudulent or abusive behaviour, inappropriate, offensive or derogatory language, gaming of the system or a violation of these terms, Wealthsimple reserves the right to remove all promotions from the Wealthsimple account(s) and take any other action it deems appropriate including, but not limited to, removing the Bonus or closing the Wealthsimple account(s). The Promotion or part of the Promotion may be combined with other offers or promotions. Please check the terms and conditions of those specific offers or promotions for details on combinability. An invitation to participate in this offer does not provide assurance that the Client will be accepted as a customer of Wealthsimple. This offer is only valid for individuals in the location cited above that otherwise meet our eligibility requirements. In the event of any discrepancy or inconsistency between the terms and conditions of the Promotion and disclosures or other statements contained in any related materials, including but not limited to the point of sale, print or online advertising, the terms and conditions of the Promotion shall prevail, govern and control.

Our Chequing product is offered by Wealthsimple Investments Inc.
