What is the Promotion?
Promotion effective date: August 25, 2023
The Transfers Bonus Promotion (the “Promotion”) is open to select new and existing Wealthsimple clients who complete the Transfer Promotion form, then make deposits or institutional transfers from their existing investment account at a different investment institution or third-party account into a Wealthsimple Self-directed Investing, Managed Investing, Crypto, Save, or Cash account within 30 days of completing the form. Account transfers or deposits must be received from a third party not affiliated with Wealthsimple to be eligible. Wealthsimple will deposit a cash value into your account based on the net amount you transferred or deposited (the “Bonus”):

The bonus would be based on cumulative eligible transfers or deposits made that have also satisfied the Promotion requirement:

Transfer or deposit must be initiated within 30 days of completing the Transfer promotion registration form. You must be the recipient of the offer via an email, push notification, in-app invitation, or another advertising channel to be eligible. Any withdrawals made from any of your Wealthsimple accounts during the Promotion Period will be deducted from the total amount transferred. For example, if you transfer $15,000 into your Self-directed Investing RRSP account from another institution and withdraw $3,000 from your Managed account, the net deposit amount used for calculating the Bonus would be $12,000.
You can only participate in the Promotion once. The Bonus is subject to change.
Who can Qualify?
You are only eligible to receive the Bonus if you:
- received an invitation to participate in the Promotion via email, push notification, in-app message, or another advertising channel
- register for the offer by clicking "Register now" in the email, push notification, in-app message, or another advertising channel, and complete the linked form
- transfer or deposit your funds from a third party not affiliated with Wealthsimple to an eligible Wealthsimple account, and
- otherwise meet our eligibility requirements.
You only need to activate the offer once. Eligible transfer or deposit must be made within 30 days of completing the Transfer Promotion registration form (see below for details of how net funding amount is calculated).
This Bonus is non-transferrable and cannot be combined with other offers or promotion codes and cannot be applied retroactively. Limit 1 Promotion participation per Client. Must be a resident of Canada.
When will my bonus be paid?
The Bonus will be applied to your account within 21 days of your transfer or deposit being completed.
How will my bonus be paid?
If you have more than one Wealthsimple account at the time your Bonus is paid, your Bonus will be paid in the following order of priority:
- Wealthsimple Cash account
- Non-registered or personal Wealthsimple Managed Investing account
- Non-registered or personal Wealthsimple Self-directed Investing account
- Wealthsimple Crypto account
- Wealthsimple Managed Investing TFSA account
- Wealthsimple Self-directed Investing TFSA account
- Wealthsimple Managed Investing RRSP account
- Wealthsimple Self-directed Investing RRSP account
There may be tax implications to the Bonus. If your account is an RRSP or TFSA, the Bonus will be reported by Wealthsimple as a contribution to the CRA. You are required to review your available contribution room prior to making a contribution to your registered account. Any excess contribution penalties that arise from a contribution are solely the responsibility of you, the client. If you require tax advice, please contact your personal tax advisor.
Do I have to buy Stock with my bonus?
There is no requirement that you purchase any securities with the Bonus. We do not provide recommendations or investment advice about how to use funds in your Wealthsimple Self-directed Investing or Crypto account. Transfer Bonus Promotion (the “Promotion”)
Promotion Period. The Promotion Period begins upon the Client’s (as defined below) completion of the Transfer Promotion registration form and ends 30 days after (the “Promotion Period”).
Eligibility. To be eligible for the Promotion, the person must:
- be a new or existing Wealthsimple account user, with all Wealthsimple accounts in good standing at the time of participation;
- be a legal resident of Canada;
- be the age of majority, or older, in their province/territory of residence at the time of participation;
- be a recipient of the Promotion invitation from Wealthsimple via e-mail, push notification, in-app message, or another advertising channel; and
- meet the requirements set out below.
Qualifying Action. To participate in the Promotion, eligible Clients must complete the Transfer Promotion registration form, then successfully make a deposit from a third-party financial institution or an institutional transfer from their existing investment account at a different investment institution into a Wealthsimple Self-directed Investing, Managed Investing, Crypto, Save, or Cash account (each a “Promotion Account”) within the Promotion Period. There are no fees associated with the creation of a Promotion Account. A Client can open a Promotion Account by visiting https://www.wealthsimple.com/en-ca and following the instructions on how to create an account. Transfers or deposits received from entities affiliated with Wealthsimple are not eligible.
Bonus. Each Promotion cash bonus (a “Bonus”) is based on the cumulative transfer or deposit amount into the Promotion Account after the completion of the Transfer Promotion registration form less withdrawals made from any Wealthsimple account during the Promotion Period (“Net Funding Amount”) in accordance to the chart below:

Application of Bonus. Please allow up to 21 days following a transfer or funding completion for the Bonus to be applied to the Client’s Wealthsimple accounts in accordance with these terms and conditions. The account to which the Bonus will be applied must be in good standing at the time the Bonus is applied.
If the Client has more than one funded account at the time the Bonus is applied, it will be applied in the following order of priority:
- Wealthsimple Cash account
- Non-registered or personal Wealthsimple Managed Investing account
- Non-registered or personal Wealthsimple Self-directed Investing account
- Wealthsimple Crypto account
- Wealthsimple Managed Investing TFSA account
- Wealthsimple Self-directed Investing TFSA account
- Wealthsimple Managed Investing RRSP account
- Wealthsimple Self-directed Investing RRSP account
There may be tax implications to the Bonus. If the account which the Bonus will be applied to is a RRSP or TFSA account, the Bonus will be reported by Wealthsimple as a contribution to CRA. Clients are required to review their available contribution room prior to making a contribution to their registered account. Any excess contribution penalties that arise from a contribution are solely the responsibility of each Client. Client’s personal tax advisor should be contacted for tax advice.
If the Bonus will be deposited into a Wealthsimple Managed Investing account, the Bonus will be automatically invested in a Managed Investing portfolio within 5 business days in accordance with the Client’s assigned risk level. The risk level can be changed at any time.
Bonus amount is subject to change, at Wealthsimple’s sole and absolute discretion. This Bonus is non-transferrable and cannot be combined with other sign-up offers or promotion codes and cannot be applied retroactively. Limit one (1) Promotion activation per Client. For greater certainty, Clients may not participate in this Promotion again after the end of the Promotion Period.
Hold Period. Clients who receive a Bonus must keep the Bonus and transferred funds in their Promotional Account (or their other Wealthsimple Account(s)) for 180 days from application of the Bonus or their Bonus payment may be deducted from their final withdrawal amount or otherwise recovered by Wealthsimple.
No Recommendation. Wealthsimple Self-directed Investing and Wealthsimple Crypto do not provide investment advice and do not hereby recommend any security, crypto or transaction. There is no requirement that you purchase any security or asset with the Bonus.
Release. By participating in the Promotion, Client assumes all risk of injury, illness, disease, death, or any other damage which may arise in connection with their participation in the Promotion. Without limiting the foregoing, client hereby: (a) forever releases and discharges Wealthsimple and its parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, related and associated entities and employees, directors, officers, suppliers, agents, sponsors and administrators of each (collectively, the “Releasees”), from and against any and all claims, actions, costs, liabilities, judgments, damages, obligations, losses, penalties, and expenses of any kind or nature whatsoever (including legal fees) (collectively, the “Claims”) in any way arising directly or indirectly out of any injury, loss, or damage that Client may suffer as a result of, or in connection with the participation in the Promotion or any promotion-related activity, including the posting of the Bonus in their Wealthsimple Account and subsequent use of the Bonus; and (b) indemnifies, defends and holds harmless the Releasees from and against any and all damages, loss and expenses, including legal fees, which may be suffered directly or indirectly by reason of the Client’s own negligence or willful misconduct during or in connection with the participation in the Promotion.
General. This promotion is sponsored by Wealthsimple Technologies Inc. (“Wealthsimple”). Wealthsimple reserves the right to amend, withdraw or restrict this Promotion at any time without notice. Wealthsimple is the sole arbiter of these rules and any other issue arising under this Promotion. If Wealthsimple suspects fraudulent or abusive behaviour, gaming of the system or a violation of these terms, Wealthsimple reserves the right to remove all promotions from your Wealthsimple account(s) and take any other action it deems appropriate including, but not limited to, closing your Wealthsimple account(s). This Promotion cannot be used in conjunction with any other promotional offer, unless specified herein. An invitation to participate in this Promotion does not provide assurance that you will be accepted as a customer of Wealthsimple. This Promotion is only valid for individuals in the location cited above that otherwise meet our eligibility requirements.
